Hey, check it out, I can now receive comments on my blog! Sorry I don't post more often. I stay pretty busy these days - there's a lot of responsibility when you're one year old. I am a big boy since my birthday on June 25... I don't get into trouble quite as much as I used to. My sister Hannah and I get along really well too, she even sometimes will share Mom and Dad's bed with me. We love to play together and we have a lot of fun both indoors and in the backyard. Let's see, what else has been going on? Well, my Mom and Dad said that my collar - you know, that thing you wear on your neck - was too little so they got me a new one and it is very handsome. My favorite toys are my Nylabone and my squeaky cheeseburger. I love rawhides too but I don't get to have them as much as I wish I did. One thing that I do not like is when a human puckers up their lips and a funny, high-pitched sound comes out. I think it is called whistling. There is one show on the box with the people in it (the TV, I think it's called) where they do that whistling thing when the show starts and when it is over. I hate that show. If you whistle in my face I will bite your nose off!!
1. What are the first things that you do in the morning to start your day? Whine really loudly and pathetically so that Mom will know I'm ready to be let out of my crate. Quiet down when Mom is done taking care of Hannah, or else she might not come and get me next. Get out of crate and lean against the wall while Mom pets me. Get a big slurp of water if I'm really thirsty. Check to see what Jefferson is doing and see if I have any chance of sneaking up on him. Go outside and temporarily become deaf when Mom calls me to come back inside. Finally allow Mom to bring me back inside and clean off my feet. Chase Jefferson around the house. Hope that Mom lets me eat breakfast outside of my crate, and then when she does, eat one bite, walk around the house for 5 minutes, and repeat until Mom takes the food away. Get another huge drink of water.
2. What are the last things that you do at night before going to bed? Go outside, chase Jefferson, have a Milkbone in my crate, chew a hard bone in my crate or maybe the plastic crate floor.
3. What daily routine have you recently added to your day? Chasing birds and rabbits in the backyard. I've never caught one, though.
4. What routine do you wish you could get rid of? Nothing bothers me.
5. What's the one thing that makes you feel like something is missing if you don't do it some point within your day? Drink water and chase Jefferson.
Wow, sorry it's been so long since I posted. First off, I've got one correction from a previous post: the scale was off at the vet, and I didn't really weigh 42 lbs. on October 17. Now, though, I weigh about 55 lbs., so it doesn't really matter anyway, does it? I have been busy growing and learning lots of new stuff. My mom and dad have gone kinda crazy. They brought a tree in the house and then wouldn't let me bite it. It was kinda scary at first because it was all lit up and I thought maybe a UFO had landed in our house. I have been on some trips, one was to a place called Georgia, and I got to meet a little girl there who was fun to play with. I think her name was Sydney. I have also been to Camp Roanoke once, oh yeah, and the camp counselors were in Georgia and they came here one time. They are everywhere! I think we are getting ready to go back to Camp Roanoke. And Hannah keeps talking about Santy Paws but I don't really know what that is. Oh well I'll tell ya all about it when I find out. Gotta go chase my brother, see you later!
I have had an exciting week. Yesterday I went to the park with my mom and my sister, Hannah. I was playing with Hannah and then Mom gave me a treat. All of a sudden I was coughing and couldn't breathe as good as usual, and I got kind of sick. Mom took us home from the park and tried to talk to some people on that box thing that she holds up to her ear. Hannah says it's called a phone. Anyway, then we got in the car and went to a new place that I had never been before. There was a man there who was really nice to me and he put me on a table to take a picture of me. When I got off the table, I was all better and I didn't have to cough anymore. That man said I had a treat stuck at the front of my trachea and he thought that when he lifted me off that table it probably came loose and I swallowed it the right way. Last night I got to sleep on the big bed with Mom and Dad and that was fun. I was very good and slept the whole night. I hope they let me sleep there all the time.
I went to the vet yesterday and I had a pretty good time. I got some shots, but that's okay. Hannah said she used to have to get shots and it made her sleepy, but I always feel fine. I weighed in at about 42 pounds yesterday. Mom and Dad aren't sure why I am growing so fast, but the vet thought I looked okay- he just thinks I am going to be big. Yah! Anyway, after we left the vet, we went to a big place that had lots of good smells. I think it was called Pets Are Smart. I got to pick out a toy and I also got to meet a lot of other dogs and people. It was fun and I hope we get to go back. I will have to tell Hannah about it, I wonder if she's ever been there?
Also, Mom keeps telling me that I am going to get to meet Mom's mom and Mom's dad soon. I wonder who they are. I am sure that I will like them because Hannah seems to be looking forward to seeing them too.
Hi everyone! My mom finally decided that it was time for me to have my own webpage. After all, I was the only one in the household without one! I can't really spell or type too well but I am dictating this to my mom and she is editing it for me. Maybe when I get a little bit older I will be able to do my own blogging.
I am a black Labrador Retriever, in case you couldn't tell from my picture up there in the corner. I was born on June 25, 2001, and I had 7 brothers who looked just like me. I came to my new home on September 9. It's pretty great here. I have a big sister named Hannah and she is great. I have a brother named Jefferson and he looks kind of funny and doesn't really want to play with me. Then of course there's my mom and dad who feed me. My days are busy with playing, chewing, eating, drinking, and sleeping. Drinking water is so much fun. I love to drink water and I love to drink lots of it.
In case you are wondering about the title of my blog, it has to do with show dogs and the fact that I am a boy and Hannah is a girl. I guess since mom and dad got Hannah first, she's kind of like the best in show award that they give at dog shows. Then I came next and I'm a boy, so I'm best of opposite sex. At least, we are the best in this house, and Mom says that's all that matters.
Hope you come back to visit me again. Soon I'll have lots of pictures on my page and I'm sure it won't be long before I have more stories to tell. Thanks for stopping by!
