Happy Halloween! No time to write a post - gotta head to bed - but here are a few pictures.

I've gotta head to bed, because we leave bright and early in the morning for the beach, but I promised a final cake photo. To make a long story short, instead of the silo, the pig got a mud puddle, and everything else proceeded as planned.

When we last left off, I had made royal icing animals for the barn cake, and the baking was underway. Fast forward to Friday.

I took the afternoon off work, getting home about noon. I leveled the cakes, made some more icing, iced the sheet cake and put crushed-up graham crackers on the brown areas. I also constructed a silo out of cookies and icing.

After Chris came home and we all had dinner, I went back to work. I positioned the barn cake on top of the sheet cake and began to decorate. (Note the white thing covered in plastic wrap in the background; that's the silo.)

The above decorating effort resulted in the following:

It was then time to move the silo to the cake. We said prayers, Hail Marys, and did a little silo dance in the kitchen. Here's the result of The Great Silo Move 2005.

Feeling quite satisfied with myself, I went to get ready for bed. While I was washing my face, Chris appeared in the doorway of the bathroom. "The silo just fell over," he said. I totally thought it was his idea of a joke, but no, he was telling the truth. It only lasted about 20 minutes. I made one attempt at re-engineering, but that didn't work and further decimated the cake below. I made some repairs to the grassy area of the cake and went to bed, trying to figure out my next approach.

Check back in the next couple of days for the end of the story and final pictures.
