There's something really unpleasant going down on the internet. In the last few days, lots of moms have discovered stolen pictures of their babies and toddlers on a, um, how shall we say this so Google won't find it, d!@per fet!sh website. No way I'm linking it here, but you can do some Googling (look for a site starting with the letter Y) and you should be able to see what I'm talking about. These pictures of course were used without any permission, and while the owner of the site claims that it's not p0rn, it's a little questionable. I have managed to look through some of the pics, but not all, but it appears that there are none of EK there. I am so glad I password protected her stuff - and this was basically why I did it. I just got a little lax when I started knitting, and posted a few shots on the blog to show off soakers, but those are gone now. Looking through all of those pictures for her was horrible. There's nothing objectionable about the pictures themselves, but it's just the reason they are there in the first place, plus the fact that they are being used without permission.
Should you feel moved to help get this site shut down, here's who to contact:

Time to update on a few things...
First, EK turned 21 months old yesterday! This, of course, means it is only 3 months until her birthday and I can sort of start to justify planning her cake and party. I really hope to have a tradition of making all of my kids' birthday cakes. It lets me be a caterer/cake decorator for a day - I was interested in it as a career when I was in 8th grade. :)
Anyway, Emma Kate is doing well. She is a motormouth, which is great fun. We have stopped writing down her words because it is too hard to keep up with at this point. Her language is getting a little more complex. Her number one phrase is, "Emma Tatie do it." She also now knows how to request more of something, and she occasionally says please and thank you. It's interesting, we have prompted her a lot to say please, but not so much on thank you, and she probably says thank you spontaneously more often than she says please. I thank her a lot for the things she does, so maybe that's where she picked it up. Some of her current words:
- hi-tumber (cucumber)
- plants (referring to Papa's garden)
- boobellies (blueberries, which she inhales)
- disaur (dinosaur)
This weekend we hope to take her swimming for the first time. It will be neat to see if she likes it. We will also be doing an easy hike and having a picnic, and I guess we may go to the fireworks, etc. on the 4th. It will be a weekend of lots of new stuff for her.
We are dealing with some house-related stress once again. We're not really sure if the closing will take place on the day it's supposed to. The sellers may not be able to move into their new place by then. Of course we can't/won't kick them out into the street, but what's annoying is that the uncertainty may continue right up until the last minute. So we're in limbo about making arrangements with utilities, fencing, people to care for EK, oh yeah, and our stuff being delivered!! It's been frustrating to wait this long, and now for it to not be a sure thing is about to drive me up the wall.
Hannah continues to do well. She had a PCV on Saturday that came back at 28. We are tentatively moving to checking her every two weeks. She will have a CBC again on the 8th or 9th of July, and if that comes back at 25 or better, we will just check PCVs every two weeks. I am so glad she's doing better. She definitely has more energy, and it is nice to see that.

Good news: Hannah is continuing to improve! Her CBC from June 3 came back at 22.1. She had a PCV on the 11th that came back at 26! So things are looking good. It appears that somehow, some way, she is getting over this on her own. To say I'm happy is an understatement. :) Go Hannah!

I am such a dingbat. A few days ago I ordered a SanDisk memory card reader for our new camera. It was not until after the package arrived (but thankfully before I ripped into it) that I realized I had ordered a Memory Stick / Memory Stick PRO reader instead of one for Compact Flash. Duh. Anybody out there need a Memory Stick reader?

Here's a quick little update on Hannah. She had the PCV test Saturday morning and (drum roll please) her hematocrit was up to 24! Now, this is good news, but I will feel even more celebratory if it is about the same this Friday when she is tested again. The statistician in me is too skeptical to be overjoyed. See, Hannah's blood is only tested by the same method every other week. So, on 5/13 she had a PCV that came back at 21. On 5/21 she had a CBC that came back at 20.2. Then 5/28 was another PCV at 24. This Friday she will have a CBC. There could be some difference between the two methods, and the PCV is also susceptible to the amount of water consumed in the hours before the test. There's really no reason to disbelieve the result of 24, but I will feel more confident after Friday's CBC.

I just got another call on my cell phone for Dave Matthews. I've had this number for 7 months now, but I still get about one call per week asking for good ol' Dave. It's really kind of funny - I so far have managed to suppress the urge to ask callers if they want
the Dave Matthews.
