Well, we did it! Two days ago we became homeowners for the very first time. Now we're in the midst of packing angst. At least we have a clean house to move into... we spent Wednesday afternoon and evening over there and got lots of cleaning done. Chris has gone over there now to drop some things off and mop the floors, and I've got to work on finishing up the packing here. Our "movers" (Chris's dad and a couple of his friends) will be here in 24 hours!

Let's see how fast I can update... so I can go to bed!

I hear the sound of Chris using the tape gun as I write this... the packing is going pretty well. We're not done by any means, but I think we're a lot farther along than I thought we would be at this point. I'm trying to get as much laundry done as possible, and we bought plastic and paper plates, bowls, and cups tonight so we can go ahead and pack more stuff in the kitchen. It's hard to believe we're closing on Wednesday! I'm excited, but a growing part of me is just ready for this to be over. I am ready to be settled in our new home. Unfortunately, there's quite a bit of post-move work that'll have to be done before we can really say we're settled!

Everwood tonight... man, I love that show. I don't think a TV show has ever made me cry before (well, okay, maybe Days of Our Lives the summer after 8th grade, when they dropped Hope into that boiling vat of green acid or whatever it was).

They're calling for more wintery weather tomorrow night and maybe into Thursday. Sheesh. I am so ready for winter to be over. It feels like I have been cold since November without any warm respite. Oh well, surely spring is just around the corner.

Well, we never did lose power, but we were not able to get out for a couple of days - which was really fine by me. I still can't get over how much snow fell in the Northeast. I keep thinking about my friends in State College, and what the dogs would do in that much snow if we still lived there.

Happy Birthday to Chris!!!!! He's an old man at 30, now. And it looks like he's going to get a lovely ice storm for a present. It's supposed to start tonight and continue for 24 hours, with ice accumulations of up to a half-inch. I figure we're going to be without power sometime on Sunday. All the candles are on the kitchen table, and the flashlights and batteries are by the sliding glass door. Blankets and other laundry are being laundered, and I think I'll make a loaf of bread tonight. I'm trying my best to think ahead this time... last time we didn't really prepare, and it wasn't too bad, but still...

Sorry it's been so quiet around here lately...

Things are going well with the house, and we're trying to force ourselves to pack now, rather than waiting until the end of the month. The seller agreed to fix all of the things we asked him to fix, and the termite inspection is scheduled for tomorrow. We're really down to the final details now, at least that's kind of how it feels.

We were without internet access at home from Thursday afternoon to Saturday afternoon, but the end result was a new modem, and everything seems to be fine again. Now we're without our relatively new TV (a Panasonic purchased in early November) -- it's being looked at by a repair shop because one of the component connections on the back of the set seems loose. Our DVDs would switch between black and white and color if you jiggled the component cable. Argh. We got this new TV because our old one had similar problems with the coaxial cable connection. They'll probably have the TV for about a week; fortunately we still had the old one so we just set it up (wouldn't dream of missing Everwood tomorrow night!). We need good electronics karma -- please send some our way if you have any to spare!
